The Laboratory of Cancer Cell Biology (LCCB) is an integral part of the Neurooncology Center of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University comprising also Department of Neurosurgery and Neurooncology of the First Faculty of Medicine and Military University Hospital Prague and Proton Therapy Center Prague.

 

LCCB belongs among the founding members of the Neurooncological section of the Czech Oncological Society of the Czech Medical Association of J.E. Purkyně, established to facilitate the national and international cooperation between clinical and biomedical disciplines that participate on the diagnostics, treatment and research of malignancies affecting the central nervous system.

LCCB collaborates with several partners in the field of both basic and applied research (e. g. Department of neurosurgery of the Na Homolce Hospital; Institute of Anatomy of the First Faculty of Medicine; Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Science of Czech Republic; Faculty of Sciences of Charles University; BIOCEV; Centre of Advanced Preclinical Imaging of the First Faculty of Medicine; Department of Medical Oncology, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard School of Medicine; Department of Pharmaceutical sciences, University of Antwerp).

 


Our Mission

 

Research of the biomedical aspects of proteolysis predominantly in the field of neurooncology.

Development and application of up-to date methodologies in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology.

Training of undergraduate and Ph.D. students in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, including the involvement of students in the research projects.
